I cant believe what I am seeing with this guy. He is putting up the greatest show I have ever seen for a rookie since Pujols or BigMac. Not only is this guy breaking all the batting records. He is getting all his hits in the clutch. Everyone is starting to compare him to the all time greats like Mantle,Murphy, Vlad etc.......... He has an unbelievable arm in the outfield. He already has 6 or 7 assist in the outfield. Has 30 to 40 stolen base potential. Has 50 homer potential. Whats not to like?

.397 7 homers and 19 rbi in less than 20 games!!!!!!! Unreal!!!!!!!!

Here is a great story from USA TODAY about this new phenom.

Wait 500 ABs before making judgemnt. He's got a nice start to his career but I'm sure his swing has a hole in it (he's a total free swinger as he swung at 11 straight pitches in a series couple weeks ago). How he adjusts onece the league figures him out will determine his future.

Exactly birdman, I could of said the say thing about Aaron Hill of the Jays two months ago and if there was the internet back in 1990 im sure New York Yankee fans were drooling over Kevin Maas. The kid is off to a good start but let's wait awhile before we call the hall of fame.

Not to put a damper on things, but I'll sell. Compaqring him to all-time greats is ridiculous. Not just because it's early, but I've seen him at the plate. Very impressive for a kid his age, I'll give him that. But I don't believe he's a 50 homer guy whatsoever. I don't believe he's going to be a great hitter over time. He is not going to be an Albert Pujols. I don't see it. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. But you cannot project a career from 20 games.

D2 is on the $$$.

Odds are MUCH higher that Francour is the next Maas and NOT the next Pujols

Kevin Mass is a horriable comparision. Mass was never highly regarded. He did not have 10% of the ability as Francoeur. Could never play defense. Was a rookie at the age of 28.Was a very low draft pick. Total apples and oranges.

Francoeur was the Braves first round draft pick. Hes been compared to the alltime greats by almost every scout. Been the talk of the Braves farm system for over 3 years. Has all 6 tools. Yes thats right, hes a 6 tool player not 5. LOL.

Francouer has done it for like 2 months, lets see what happens once league has faced him more than once and see if he can adjust like Pujols. That is what makes Pujols so great as you can never pitch him the same way 2 times. NL will figure out his weakness and then lets see what happens!

Maas and his 10 dingers in his first month is a "horrible comparision", but comparisions to Pujols and McSteriod after Francouer's 3 week hot streak are okey-dokey?

Give me a break.

I'm not comparing Maas to Francoeur I am comparing the hype both got. Maas was the AL rookie of the year and there wasn't a Yankee fan who weren't falling all over themselves over that kid. I am comparing Yankee fans back in the day or fans in general who are biased to their fav team and over hype someone over a short period of time which is what you are doing over Francoeur.

I can't think of very many great hitters who lack plate discipline. And this kid never even hit .300 in a full year of minor league ball.

What is the 6th tool anyway? Pitching?

Let's hope Francoeur doesn't turn out to be another Brad Komminsk. I remember at the time they had him in the Hall of Fame too when he started. It was said he could do things Hank Aaron could only dream of doing....yeah like hitting 218 for a career average!!

I've been following Francoeur and he is impressive but to compare him to Pujols at this moment is ridiculous. The guy has less than 100 ab's. Even with 500ab's , you can't make assumptions until at least 2 seasons. A good example is what happened to Adrian Beltre. The guy had the best season of any NL player last year and look at what happened. Big league pitchers made the adjustments on him and look at him now. Pujols has shown for 4 straight years now that he will be able to hit any adjustments thrown at him. Pujols is not just the best player in the game, but may possibly be the best ever to play the game if he keeps this up for years to come.

This is the dumbest thing I ever heard. 20 games and you are going to compare him to mantle????? Anyone that knows anything about baseball knows rookies can do excellent in the beginning and once the league figures him out its over. Same goes for a lot of rookie pitchers but they have a much quicker return to reality.( a game or 2)

Want an example look atcano on the yanks. Yes his numbers weren't the same but the guy is ICE cold right now.

MANTLE :lolBIG: :finger: :finger: :finger:

This dude has made me sick for over the last week.....I cant even bring my self to look at his rookie cards on Ebay anymore...they are just plain Sick.....I knew he was highly touted from the begining , BUT DAMN.....I sold most the rookies I had of him when they came out because they were semi Hot and figured , What the Hell....I feel like a tool, because those cards could have paid for a vacation all by them self.... IMO...he will turn out be Dale Murphy reincarnated...No way another Pujols.

He swings at to many pitches and has had more than his shair of flares drop in so far. Good looking young player though.
