And as far as projections go, they’re not an exact science

I will make projections all the time at work. For example I’ll try to project revenues/expenses/net income/margin etc for several periods — usually as far out as 5 years.

The point of projections aren’t to try and hit a bullseye, but give leadership an understanding of where the company is going if they operate as is. It’s supposed to help them guide their decision-making

Obviously in economic or business projections there are so many variables/unknowns that make it nearly impossible to nail down as an exact science

You start to get it right, then you finish by fucking it up anyhow

Economics and economic projections are not an exact science. If they were, we'd have achieved utopia already

But they're wrong, they're always wrong, and they're wrong by so much it makes them irrelevant in my world

You're still looking for reasons to believe their left wing slant, because you're a leftie and you want them to be right

I just laugh and live my life

I’m not looking for “reasons” to believe anything lol

I don’t view politics like sports like so many people here do

I pointed out that Republicans have been as spend-happy as Democrats for 40+ years, and that’s not really debatable

Only thing I’m rooting for is good results, and I believe that takes a healthy combination of liberal and conservative ideology — in my view a little more liberal. But it’s fine to disagree on that

How about this

You want to believe in government solutions and you're hoping that they can actually control something

"Do you believe in miracles?"

or maybe

"you gotta believe"

or my personal favorite

"we're gonna shock the world"

Where did I say this?

Believing that government can play a role in creating a great, prosperous country (which it has) is not flatly being some government fanboy or striving for “government solutions” to everything

This reminds me of what I’ve criticized you in the past — you’re too all or nothing with stuff

It’s either “government” or “private”, when the answer is clearly somewhere in between in terms of where solutions come from

You can apparently believe in “regulations or no regulations”, when the answer is clearly somewhere on the middle

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent schools CBS anchor over wrong inflation prediction: ‘Numbers are the best in 4 years

Margaret, when we were here in March, you said there was going to be big inflation. There hasn’t been any inflation,” Bessent shot back during an exchange about whether retailers will have less inventory or jack up prices.

On Sunday, Brennan pressed Bessent on a recent Wall Street Journal piece by famed Republican strategist Karl Rove, who ticked through the economics and math of tariffs and warned that they could cost the GOP its majorities in Congress.

Actually, the inflation numbers are the best in four years. So why don’t we stop trying to say this could happen, and wait and see what does happen,” Bessent added about their exchange in March

Been kind of quiet in here

Futures jump , yields fall after CPI report

Inflation ticked up less than expected in May, considering fear around Trump's tariffs

  • The year-over-year inflation rate ticked up in May to 2.4%, less than expected.
  • Researchers expected the new consumer price index report to show tariff effects.
  • Several soft data points, like inflation expectations, have improved.

There‘s always next month . Oh well !
